Sortation Systems
Design, Engineer, Manufacture, Install & Maintain
Sortation systems are used for a variety of applications within a distribution center or manufacturing facility. In a typical distribution center (DC) material handling conveyor systems are used to sort product to various destinations. In the receiving department, product is sorted to various destinations to be put away. Sorters are used throughout the conveyor system to route product to quality control stations, void fill and packing stations, and various value added areas such as gift wrapping or kitting. The most common use for a sorter is in the shipping department. Product is scanned and inducted onto shipping sorters and then diverted to its assigned shipping lane. Product is sorted based on shipping method such as UPS, FedEx or LTL, or it can be based on its final destination such as distribution to a local store or to fulfill an order direct to the consumer.
Similarly, sortation conveyor is used to move product in many manufacturing facilities. Sortation systems route parts or materials between workers, and automated machinery to virtually any location throughout a plant or warehouse.
